bridge photoSave the date! Next week, Come Paint With Us will be holding our first Bridgeport Bridge Painting Class! The class will be held on Thursday, November 5th from 6:30 to 9pm. Many locals cherish this Nevada County landmark; it’s one of the most beautiful bridges in all of the Gold Country. A pedestrian crossing, the bridge is located on the South Fork of the Yuba River in the South Yuba River State Park. It’s been made a California Registered Historical Landmark.  The Bridgeport Covered Bridge has the longest clear span of any surviving covered bridge in the world.

The bridge was built in 1862 and is 230 feet long. It was constructed as part of a toll road. More than one hundred years ago, pioneers and miners paid a $2 toll to drive their wagons and horses across this covered wooden bridge. Currently, traffic is limited to pedestrians only (and you can walk on it for free.)

It’s a landmark cherished by those who enjoy the rich history and beautiful scenery of the Gold Country. At the class, you’ll be given all of the tools you need to create your own work of art: step-by-step guidance by our instructor,  paint, paintbrushes, and canvas. The painting will look fabulous on your living room wall, or you can give it as a gift to a friend or family member. We’ll have snacks and beverages available for purchase.
